Lucina is made of a transparent fluorpolymer,
CYTOP. Among plastic optical fibers, Lucina enjoys the world's highest
performance levels, obtaining speeds of more than a gigabit per second
over 200-500m. Lucina has a graded index profile and a large core
diameter, which enables it to enjoy such advantages as high transmission
speeds, ease of handling and connection, low installation costs, and
compatibility with LD and LED in the near infrared region (NIR) from
650nm wavelength to 1300nm wavelength. Lucina shows promise for use
in the near future with both premise networks and home networks.
